The media reports suggesting large scale violations of the provisions of the CNT Act made by politicians and bureaucrats to grab tribal land in the State capital rocked the Assembly on the last day of the Monsoon Session on Friday that ended without having any question during Question Hours and Zero Hours being asked in six seating.
Members from the JMM and JVM against whom several charges were levelled for bypassing the law forced an entire washout in the first half.
As soon as the House resumed in the morning, firstly, members from the BJP demanded a probe into the allegations by flashing newspapers publishing names of the some of the top JMM and JVM leaders. The outburst, however, got a fitting reply from the JMM legislators who trooped into the well forcing Speaker Dinesh Oraon to adjourn the proceeding for two times.
In the heat of the moment, leader of Opposition Hemant Soren even went on stating that the Government was incompetent. “This Government is useless and we have no expectation from it. I have not seen such an incompetent and shameless Government ever,” said the JMM executive president. However, his comment did not go unanswered when Urban Development Minister CP Singh hurled similar adjectives on the Opposition.
later talking outside, Soren went on against the Government alleging it for selective leaks made through the media. “It was the last day of the Assembly and news about tribal land has been brought. I can’t understand the motive behind. This is paid news and has been placed deliberately. Anyway, the list in the media is not new and yet incomplete. I request the Government to order a thorough probe,” he said.
The JMM leader also mentioned about the matter relating to CP Singh against whom charges of getting a housing board plot was made in the past. At the same time, Hemant alleged that Chief Minister Raghubar Das’ political advisor Ajay Kumar had got a building plan passed from the RMC through fraudulent means.
“Ajay Kumar filed false affidavit in the RMC to pass the plan for the plot of the land which was non-existent. An FIR for that had been lodged in the vigilance bureau way back in August, 2010 but it has been suppressed. We demand to expedite the matter,” he said and defended name of his
family members figuring in the list saying that altercations made in boundary of thanas have led to that.
On the allegation of misusing the Public Relation Department to spread the information into the media, Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that it was the right of the people to know. “Media persons keep seeking such information from the PRD. There is nothing new into it. If you have nothing to hide then what is the issue,” the CM told the agitated Opposition.
later, speaking in the House, JMM’s Stephen Marandi denied having any land on his name in Ranchi and even offered his resignation if he is proven wrong.
