The verdict in the fodder scam has come as shot in arm for the crusaders of anti corruption movement and the common man who is affected most because of corruption and corrupt politicians. Nobody among the crowd realized the importance of the day until the judge declared former Bihar Chief Minister lalu Prasad Yadav guilty in the fodder scam.
“Pahele chara khaya ab jail ka hawa khayega (Earlier he ate fodder now he will languish in jail,” quipped Mahendra Sharma.
Interestingly, there were people like Sharma who were happy that the law of the land ultimately prevailed over high and mighty. “Der aaye lekin durust aaye (although it came late but it came right)” said another man.
The case may not mean an end of road for the Rashtriya Janta Dal supremo but for the hundreds of spectators this could well be last nail in lalu’s political coffin. “Khatam ho gaya uska career (his career is over now)” maintained Nilesh Kumar, a civil court lawyer.
The landmark verdict was welcomed by common man as it came amid accusations of mishandling the case by the premier investigating agency and alleged role of vested interest in the RJD who is an ally of the ruling Congress party.
“We can say with confidence that high & mighty people with political connections cannot escape punishment. This restores belief in the judicial system,” said Shyam Ji, a store keeper near civil court premises.
