lalu sees strains in UPA poll alliance in Jharkhand

Published on:

RJD chief lalu Prasad Yadav today indirectly blamed fissures in the United Progressive Alliance for the fiasco in the lok Sabha elections and the outspoken leader indicated prolonged strained relations between constituents of the UPA for the prevailing confusion in the Assembly elections in Jharkhand.

Yadav although acknowledged the friction in the coalition disapproved of the manner in which the RJD and Janta Dal-United (JDU) have come face to face on a number of seats in the Assembly election. The RJD Chief saw rise of the BJP as a result of the differences between UPA and ego of leaders of political party’s part of the ‘Grand Alliance’.

“What can I say on allianceIJ We are in friendly fight on few seats. But we should not engage ourselves in friendly matches in this fashion. Unity has broken for whatever reasons but we should be mindful of that in future,” said Yadav.

Yadav who was left disappointed after Jharkhand Mukti Morcha turned down the offer of contesting elections together was brimming with confidence about party’s performance in Jharkhand and obliquely justified fielding candidates at more than 10 constituencies given to the party under the formula worked out by the Congress. The party is likely to contest 15 seats in Jharkhand and is in direct fight with the Congress at Manika and with JD-U at Chhatarpur.

“We are contesting elections wherever we are in strong position. Congress’s candidate for Manika filed nomination saying that he came second by a margin of around 600

votes but our candidate is in strong position there,” maintained Yadav.

Nonetheless, Yadav, former Chief Minister of Bihar, did not rule out post poll pact with the JMM if invited by the Shibu Soren led party to join hands to explore the possibility of forming Government in Jharkhand.

“Whatever lies in future we will thing about it in future,” hinted the former Bihar CM.Meanwhile, the RJD Chief attacked BJP and blamed the saffron brigade of showing little interest in the development of Jharkhand despite being at the centre of power longer than any party since Jharkhand was carved out of Bihar. Yadav accused the BJP of selling dreams of rosy days to the voters of Jharkhand that too without doing any prior groundwork.

“They promise to provide electricity to each house in two-years. Where is their planIJ They have ruled Jharkhand for 12 years and they have only looted the State. When Jharkhand was formed BJP had Government at the centre as well as in the State yet nothing happened,” asserted the Yadav.
