Expressing faith in the judicial system, RJD chief lalu Prasad Yadav on Monday once again requested the Special CBI Court of Pradeep Kumar to expedite the trial process in the case and said that he expects justice from it. Meanwhile, Prasad’s younger son and leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly met his father for the first time in Jail and asked about his well being.
“Sir, please expedite the trail process as we have faith on you that we will get justice from here,” said the RJD Chief. The court, however, directed Yadav not to plead before it.
When the Court was informed that none of the witnesses from the prosecution was available to record his statement in fodder scam case RC47A/96 related to fraudulent withdrawal from Doranda Treasury, the Court expressed its displeasure and said that it will write to the higher authorities of CBI about it that witnesses were not being produced by their side.
Yadav, talking to the media persons, also expressed condolences to the death of senior Rashtriya Janata Dal leader and former Union Minister Raghunath Jha late on Sunday at Delhi’s Ram Manohar lohia Hospital and said that he could not go for his condolence as he was lodged in jail.
Earlier, Yadav also appeared before the Court of Shiv Pal Singh in another fodder scam case RC38A/96 through video conferencing in the first half but later was brought to the Civil Court in RC47A/96 to appear before it physically.
Meanwhile, his son and leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly Tejsawi Yadav met him at Birsa Munda Central Jail in Ranchi and asked his well being.
He also complained that he did not get much time to meet his father as most of the time was killed in fulfilling the jail procedures for some unknown reasons. “Hardly I was given 5 minutes time to talk to him as most of the time got killed in fulfilling the procedures for visiting an inmate.
We are concerned about his health that is why I had come here to meet him,” said Tejaswi.
He has been suffering several ailments like diabetes, high blood pressure and has undergone open heart surgery recently, added he. “I also asked him whether he is taking medicines on time or not,” said Tejaswi.
Prasad is presently lodged in Birsa Munda Central Jail after a special CBI Court of Shiv Pal Singh on January 6, pronounced 3.5 years’ jail and also slapped a fine of Rs 10 lakh for him in fodder scam case RC64A/96, related to fraudulent withdrawal from Deoghar treasury during 1991 to 1994.
