RJD chief lalu Prasad, admitted to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) after he made complaints of intense pain due to perianal abscess developed in his body on Saturday, is likely to be referred to All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. RIMS administration said that final decision in this regard will be taken on Wednesday after taking final opinion from the medical board which has been constituted to take a decision in this regard.

Prasad was shifted to RIMS from Birsa Munda Central Jail where he has been lodged since December 23 after being convicted by a Special CBI Court of Shivpal Singh in a fodder scam case RC64A/96, related to Deoghar Treasury.

“Any decision in this regard will be taken on Wednesday only by the Medical Board after looking into all test reports related to Prasad,” said RIMS Superintendent SK Chaudhary. A discussion, however, definitely took place today also in this regard where the issue was discussed at large, but any decision in this regard will be taken after taking opinion from all, he added.

Meanwhile, different tests are being conducted on Prasad to trace out any abnormality in his body. Dr Umesh Prasad of Medicine Department after conducting the checkup of RJD chief said that that some abnormalities have been detected in his kidney as he had been suffering from diabetes since a long time.

“Serum Creatinine has been found to be slightly increased up to a level of 1.5 which indicates some abnormality in the functioning of his kidney due to long standing diabetes,” said Dr Prasad. The urine sample has been sent for tests again to cross check whether it is actually on the higher side or not, he added.

‘In the mean time, we have also sent his blood sample for conducting other pathological tests for which reports are still awaited,” said the Doctor. He also hinted that Prasad might be shifted to other hospital as there were no proper facilities available for kidney related treatment here.

Incidentally, Special CBI Court of Shivpal Singh is likely to pronounce quantum of punishment against Prasad on March 23 after he was held guilty in fourth fodder scam case RC38A/96 against him in which the decision was deferred twice due to various reasons.

The RJD chief is presently lodged in Birsa Munda Central Jail after being convicted in fodder scam case RC64A/96, related to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 89, 4417 lakh from Deoghar Treasury with the help of 6 fake allotment letters during 1991 to 1994, on December 23 by the CBI Court.
