State BJP Spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo today said that Lalu Prasad and his supporters are openly flouting the jail manual and the State Government is a mute spectator. Pratul said that the jail IG in letter no. 1657 on 31 August 2020 has clearly stated that outsiders are arbitrarily meeting the RJD chief with the help of police officials deputed at the bungalow in Ranchi.
The IG (Prisons) in his letter has also said that political statements are also being made by the visitors, which is completely against the rules.
He further said that the State government is only doing eyewash by appointing magistrates at the bungalow. The State government has bowed down in front of Lalu Prasad. Therefore, there is no change in the system, whether the bungalow is manned by as a magistrate or a commissioner.
The BJP Spokesperson said that on November 27, 1998, a bench headed by Supreme Court Justice MK Mukherjee immediately shifted Lalu Prasad and Jagannath Mishra from BMP guest house to Beur Jail for violating the jail manual and misusing the facilities there. He said that the same story of abuse is being repeated in Ranchi also. The bungalow Lalu Prasad has become the principal electoral office of RJD and from here the Bihar election campaign is being conducted. Now the government should immediately send him back to Hotwar jail with medical facilities.
