The promises to glitter the talents of the sportsmen of the district have been made by almost all political leaders. But, it was never taken to the reality. The condition of the only stadium of the city —lalit Narayan Stadium — is in a crumbling condition.
The galleries and the stairs of the stadium had been ruined completely. Despite its miserable condition, the State-level athletic competitions have been organised for last six decades. Many other functions are also organised here. Its construction is still under consideration in court. In the stadium, matches of hockey, cricket, football and athletics are held.
In this matter football coach S Sujauddin Raja, cricket coach Alok Rai athletics player Javed Ahmad and sports coach Ajay Prasad feel that there is no lack of sports talent in the district. But they have always been neglected. A big playground is still a distant dream for the players. The players also say that they are neither provided with a practice/play ground nor are encouraged. So to hope for better results is not logical. The overall sports development of the district is being adversely affected.
