The Daltonganj Government Railway Police (GRP) has lodged a UD ( unnatural death) case in the wake of the recovery of a body of a 30-year-old on the Dn line about 500 yards away from the Daltonganj railway station said sources.

The deceased was identified as Santosh Kumar, who was engaged in the loading of food grains of the FCI at this railway station. Sources said Santosh Kumar was run over by a train, which no one saw. After hitting the train, Santosh seems to have been dragged for more than 200 metres. The marks on his body suggest the same.

The Daltonganj GRP OC Sugreev Ram has confirmed the registration of the UD case and ruled out any foul play seeing prima facie evidence like murder or throwing of body on the railway tracks after the murder to confuse it as a case of an accident.

The GRP recovered the battered battery of the cell phone of the deceased. There was nothing else found with the deceased. The GRP OC said he was last seen with two persons. The incident occurred last night between 9 pm and 10 pm.

In other development, the GRP DSP B K Mahto spurred a team of GRP officials for nabbing an alleged train robber identified as Khalid Raza of Garhwa, who hails from village Chetna. Raza has confessed to carrying out robbery in Shaktipunj Express train on December 12, 2014 in which 8 train robbers had robbed cattle traders of Rs11,35,000 said GRP OC Sugreev Ram.

According to Ram, the GRP are after two more train robbers named Kamlesh and Eqbal, who are at large. Kamlesh and Eqbal hail from villages falling under Garhwa district. The GRP further reiterated that it is Kamlesh, who is behind robbery of cash at railway stations, namely Kusiyara, Haidernagar and Sigsiggie. These railway stations have witnessed a spate of loot incidents at the counters.
