labour Union Bharat Majdoor Sangh is preparing to announce strike in the collieries any day between June11 and 15. The local units of BMS completed their six-day long protest programme in the collieries of Hazaribagh area on June 10. The union is demanding constitution of JBCCI to check the privatisation of collieries and to protect the interests of the coal workers. This protest was going on since June 5.
Regional Secretary of BMS Shankar Singh said that the central government is not interested in constituting JBCCI which is necessary to protect the interest of coal workers. It is a general fear in the collieries that after privatization coal deposits sufficient for 40 years will be mined out within 5 to 10 years and then the coal workers will lose their jobs.
Singh said that ninth wage revision agreement is going to expire on 20th of June and tenth revision is going to be due from 1st of July 2016.
