Hundreds of unorganised workers of the MSS, Bokaro Thermal unit took out a massive rally in the thermal area on Wednesday evening to protest against Power Mac Company after the termination of 21 workers recently. Officials of Power Mac Company, which is constructing the new power plant, have expressed anguish over the situation.

Though meeting of the Power Mac Company management and the leaders of MSS, Ganesh Ram and Raghubar Singh was carried out two to three times, no settlement was in sight. The local leaders said the Power Mac company had made several appointments in this project from outside. They alleged that in an agreement, the company had agreed to provide jobs to local villagers. Though the company officials ignored their demands.

They are demanding that the 21 local workers, who have been dropped by the company, should be provided jobs first. They said though they had been continuing their struggle for the last one month, the officials of Power Mac Co, despite assurances have taken no positive steps in this regard. The members of MSS, a trade union organisation, on Wednesday held a demonstration at the Thermal main gate to press for the implementation of their 8-point charter of demands.

The demonstration culminated in a general meeting presided by Raghubar Singh, secretary of MSS local Thermal unit, who asked the Power Mac co officials to restore the 21 workers, who have dropped by them . The MSS has submitted a memorandum to the DVC management regarding their demands. The leaders threatened of intensifying the stir if their demands are not met.
