Special Security Adviser to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs K Vijay Kumar, on the first day of his two-day visit to Jharkhand on Thursday, met the CRPF officials at the ground and heard problems related to their training, organisational structure and availability of manpower. Kumar, along with four other senior officers — Special DG (CRPF) K Durga Prasad, Major General Dalbir Singh, Major General VK Dutta, and DIG (Operations) PS Rajoura, appointed by the MHA to review and prepare a report to improve the efficiency of CRPF in the left Wing Extremism (lWE)-affected states.
“This team formed by the Centre has been assigned to review condition of CRPF and prepare a report so that overall efficiency of the force could be improved to take on the Maoists in a better way. They will basically review the lacunae, difficulties as well as innovations after meeting with the officers who are posted in the field so that facts from the ground could be gathered,” said a senior CRPF official requesting anonymity.
Kumar, along with his team, held marathon meetings at the zonal training camp at Musabani as well as at the headquarters at East Singhbum and Rania in Khunti on the first day of their two day trip in Jharkhand. “During the visit of Musabani and Khunti, I interacted with the CRPF people to find out how they are conducting the operations in the State. I also assessed the training level and found out that the troops have managed to have a good impact on the Maoists,” Kumar was quoted as saying. All core parameters of operations are being met with a proper coordination between the State police and the CRPF, added Kumar.
Kumar will also meet the CRPF officials on Friday, who have performed well during the anti-Naxal operations and seek their suggestions in order to improve overall working condition of the force. They will be asked about the problems faced by them during their postings in the remote areas and also measures to remove those problems, informed an official. Kumar will also give medals to those who have done commendable jobs during the last 2-3 anti-Naxal operations in the State. A meeting is also slated to take place with the Special Security Adviser and DGP where some other senior officers of the State police and Jharkhand Jaguar will be present.
