In a yet another protest against the construction on any land acquired by the state government long back for a purpose, allotting the land for different purpose after the State was carved out from Bihar, Kute villagers on Wednesday handed over a memorandum before the administration demanding back their land as their interests were not fulfilled by the Government. The administration however, has promised to keep the construction work suspended till the matter is sorted out. Foundation stone for the new assembly building is to be laid on February 21, 2014.
“A memorandum demanding a meeting with the Chief Minister was given by the villagers which has been sent to the Ranchi SDO,” said Nagri BDO Rohit Singh. Singh however, said that they abide by the orders given to them on Thursday by the government.
Kute villagers along with Hatia MlA Navin Jaiswal and other activists marched to the foundation stone laying spot demanding back their land which were acquired by the then Bihar government for some welfare state but is being sold out on much-much higher price than it was acquired at that time.
“Though the land originally belonged to us, neither the government nor the HEC management did anything for the benefit of those to whom they actually the land belonged to,” said a local Pankaj Shahdeo. According to Shahdeo, the land which was acquired at the rate of `32 per dismal is now being sold out at the rate of `five lakh per dismal.
Shahdeo also warned the government that the construction work must immediately be suspended or the government will have to bear the brunt of the villagers. A meeting was called on Wednesday after the JCB machines reached the proposed site on Tuesday for leveling the land which was obstructed by the villagers on Tuesday.
Sensing the seriousness, the administration under tight security reached the site to sort out the problem but they were not ready to back off without meeting the CM.
