The ongoing encounter in the Kumandih jungles of latehar may continue for some more days as the security forces are determined to fight till the Maoists are washed away from the area.  The security forces have been engaged in sporadic encounters with the CPI (Maoists) cadres for the last four days. The DGP claimed to have gunned down at last eight rebels in two different encounters on Thursday.

“We believe that the encounter will go on for more days as the rebels have been cornered by the security forces and the area has been turned into a battlefield,” said Jharkhand DGP Rajeev Kumar. The sources however claimed that more than 5000 rounds have been fired from both sides in the last four days. In addition to that, hundreds of hand grenades as well as over 150 landmines have been blown up during the last four days.
