DIG CRPF has ordered an enquiry into the Koney forward security post freakish episode in which a cop of 214 battalion of CRPF fired two shots which injured a fellow jawan and the second shot which was suicidal and took the life of the same cop who had so fired with his Insas rifle.
Quoting the version of DIG CRPF, Palamu DIG of police Saket Kumar Singh gave the details that suggest the incident took place at 11.30 am on Wednesday when a CRPF personal Mahipal fired shot that injured his fellow Sanjay. Sanjay who is a driver with 214 battalion CRPF here was air lifted by chopper and later admitted in Medica hospital in Ranchi. DIG further added that Mahipal committed suicide later on.
Koney forward security post which is manned by 214 CRPF battalion has succeeded in containing and curbing the activities of the Maoists to a great extent but this tragic episode has brought 214 battalion CRPF in poor light. Sources said the commission of inquiry would definitely find out if this incident was any ‘stress related one’. The barber Mahipal's (accused who is now deceased) firing was a deliberate one or was it a firing by mistake.
