A novel ‘The Eternal Mystery’ written in the backdrop of Jharkhand by former journalist and academician Santosh Kiro was released on Tuesday in the presence of Padma Shri awardee and noted social activist Ashok Bhagat, former Home Secretary JB Tubid at Xavier Institute of Social Sciences (XISS) in Ranchi. The book, according to Kiro, was a pack of mystery, thrill, suspense, romance and tragedy which took two long painstaking years to pen it down.
“Mystery, thrill, suspense, romance and tragedy – all are packed in one in this book,” said Kiro. The novel is orchestrated in Anjan, a hamlet believed to be a birthplace of lord Hanuman, and vividly brings out the rich mythological world of the Mundas, especially connected with the much revered Hanuman, he added.
According to Kiro, the novel was based on the story of a brilliant but agnostic, young scientist from Mumbai haunted by psychic dreams since childhood who lands in Anjan to study the mysterious unnatural phenomena with a hope to discover rich source of energy, only to be drawn into the things like birth, death and re-birth.
The novel ‘The Eternal Mystery’ has been published by Chero and Saal Books, a joint publishing venture set up by IIM Ranchi Graduate Devashish Mishra and the author himself.
Speaking at the occasion, Bhagat said that the author has been a noted journalist with a talent to pen his thoughts in wonderful words. “Kiro during his journalistic career, travelled length and breadth of Jharkhand and wrote different aspects of life in Jharkhand,” said Bhagat.
Tubid on the other hand said that, “There are many rich things in Jharkhand that need to come to the world and this can happen only if the educated youths start writing about them and create literature.”
Other dignitaries who witnessed the book launch were noted Geologist Nitish Priyadarshi, former Vice Chancellor of Ranchi University Professor VP Sharan along with several journalists, academicians, students and other book lovers.
