Students from cities across the country are increasingly looking beyond local institutions, aspiring for education that meets global standards. In this pursuit, the recent achievement of Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) stands out as an inspiring example for those seeking quality, innovation, and internationally benchmarked education.

In its very first appearance in the QS World University Rankings 2026, KIIT has emerged as the top-ranked private university in Odisha and secured the 9th position among all private universities in India. This achievement is not only a matter of pride for the institution but also a promising sign for youth across India striving to move beyond boundaries in search of better opportunities.

The QS global rankings evaluate over 1,500 universities worldwide through a rigorous methodology that includes parameters like academic reputation, faculty-student ratio, research output, and international outlook. This year, 54 Indian universities made it to the list the highest participation from India so far.

KIIT is one of eight Indian institutions to debut in this year’s QS World University Rankings. The university has already made its mark in the QS Asia Rankings and the Times Higher Education Asia Rankings, reflecting its consistent upward journey. Founded in 1992 with modest beginnings, KIIT has grown into a multidisciplinary university with more than 40,000 students pursuing education across diverse fields. KIIT's performance clearly indicates that Indian private universities are no longer just participating in global competition they are becoming significant contributors in taking students from every corner of the country to international platforms.
