Kidnapped Md Chand resurfaced safe and sound after about 5 days of his captivity by a gang called Jharkhand Bachao Andolan in the district of latehar said the SP latehar Michael S Raj. Chand was kidnapped on the night of June 9 at Sheregara who reappeared on the night of June 14. It’s claimed by the police that Chand’s release is without any ransom being paid.
Giving details the SP said the gang which has a typical name Jharkhand Bachao Andolan has no letter head or pamphlet of this name nor has this outfit any role in the building or saving of the state except it has developed a penchant only for kidnapping. The SP added that the group first identifies its ‘subject’ (read victim), collects information about his worthiness in terms of cash and then kidnaps all with a professional touch.
The SP said with confidence that Md Chand’s release was ensured without exchange of any ransom. When asked as how this could happen he said, “We had netted many of the relatives of the gangsters of this gang and thus our pressure cracked the kidnappers who released Chand.”This bizarre gang has men from Hazaribagh, Chatra and latehar’s Balumath. All the 12 in this outfit are in the age group of 20 to 30 he said. The group is reportedly led by Rajinder Oraon (Bariyatu Balumath) Mohan Sao (Katkamsandi, Hazaribag) and Mukesh Sao (Chatra).
The latehar police were too cross fingered over this man’s fate as hot weather would have taken any worse turn for him. Palamau IG A Natarajan and DIG RK Dhan too had rushed to Balumath in the wake of this kidnapping of Chand, said sources.
