Jharkhand State Khadi Board is all set to organize the first ‘Ratri Bazaar’ at MG Road on May 20.
In a bid to promote the first night market concept here in State Capital, the Chairperson of Khadi Board, Sanjay Seth conducted a meeting with the district administration officials on Friday for beefing up security during the late night hours.
Seth, addressing a press meet, said that after the successful organization of the first night market here, further attempts will be made to regularize it.
After getting consent from the district administration team to initiate the project, Seth said, “All security facets have been figured out. PCR vans, including the police constables will assist the people during emergency. Adequate number of CCTV cameras will be mounted at stalls to keep a check on public activities.”
Seth said that if a family requires the support of administration during the late night hours, police team will escort them. Health officials too have been instructed to be on spot from 9 PM to 12 PM to prevent any untoward incident. “Ranchi Civil Surgeon has assured us that a separate health team will be deployed on the spot. We have also collaborated with Orchid Hospital for medical assistance,” added Seth.
Areas near Sadar Hospital, St. Xavier’s College lane, Shastri Market, Zila School and Chadri Talab have been demarcated for vehicle parking. No additional parking charge will be taken from the visitors. The Ranchi Municipal Corporation officials have been asked to depute additional workforce to curtail the traffic snarl along the busiest street.
Highlighting on special features of the night market, Seth added that unique cultural events have been planned by the Department of Art and Culture. Based on the theme ‘Street Masti’, troops will perform several cultural activities like dance, drama, skit and songs. The area will be barricaded from Albert Ekka Chowk to Sarjana Chowk,” Seth further added.
He said that all the stall owners have been asked to sell their products at 10 per cent discount. “Khadi Board has adopted innovative measures to captivate the interest of leisure buffs for promoting night
market. The Board will give heavy discount on all Khadi products. Besides giving a platform to street vendors, approximately 20 stalls of Khadi Board will be put up at Ratri Bazaar and two stalls of Jharcraft will be setup. Duro Ply is sponsoring the entire event,” added Seth.
