The Water Resource Development Minister of Jharkhand Annapurna Devi has promised the farmers of Barhi block that the Government will soon repair the Kewal Dam, Kewalia Dam, lotia Dam and Jarahia irrigation canal. She visited all the sites and discussed the grievances of the locals.
At Barhi she was received by Ex- Minister Manoj Kumar Yadav, RJD District President Bhuvaneshwar Patel, spokesman Harish Srivastava and workers of both Congress and RJD. She first visited Jarahia dam, where villagers informed her about the dam gate which was repaired last year but is still leaking. Annapurna assured action against the concerned officials.
Then she reached Kewal Dam where villagers demanded minor repairing works and cleaning of canal. She immediately ordered the officials to send a team of engineers here to make proposal with estimate. At Kewalia Dam of Gauriakarma she was welcomed by Mukhiya Sarita Devi. On behalf of the villagers she demanded construction of a big pond on the upland area in which water of Kewalia Dam will go by lift irrigation. There is no canal connected with this dam so the proposal was accepted by the Minister.
At lotia Dam MlA Barhi Uma Shankar Akela welcomed the Minister and demanded repair of its gate and associated canals. Here too Annapurna Devi ordered the officers to constitute a team of engineers to make the proposal of the repair works.
