A five member delegation headed by Planning Commission member K Kasturirangan on Sunday held a review meeting with Chief Secretary Sajal Chakraborty along with the other top officials of all the departments of the State in Ranchi. The commission on the basis of the meeting will prepare a report to be carried forward to the next commission formed after May 16.
“Even after challenges being faced by the Jharkhand Government, the State has developed expertise in the field of health and agriculture; the state can do better in future also. I will include these things in my report and forward it to the Planning Commission,” K Kasturirangan was quoted as saying after the meeting.
According to the sources, Jharkhand has demanded a package of `19,000 crore to develop the State highways in the State along with a separate fund for improving the condition
of NH 33.
The State officials also complained that even after paying `2,300 crore to the railways, only one out of 6 project has been completed, putting on more and more liabilities on the State, said one of the source.
Chief Secretary however admitted that the status of expenditure was not very good in the State, even after poor performance, the State Government would try to get more help from the centre.
Kasturiragan also assured the State officials that he would include the grievances in his report raised by them and to carry it forward.
