Hundreds of girls studying in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidhalaya, Kasmar have complained about getting ‘stale rice’ from the school management. The students also alleged that they are not getting mid-day-meal (MDM) according to the menu prescribed by the Government.
“The school management used to serve us with stale rice in meal. Several girls have fallen ill after consuming the food and went to their homes,” alleged Rupa, a class 6 student of the residential school.
“We though over protesting because for the meal we are getting to eat, but teachers scolded and threatened us,” added lalita, another student. The girls briefed about their grievances before BEO Puspa Kumari who rushed to school with a team for surprise inspection. Several students were found absent during inspection. Team members also found several discrepancies there.
Beside BEO, Village head Haru Rajwar, laxman Nayak, Mantu Rajwar and guardians of many students were there during inspection.
