Jharkhand’s noted ophthalmologist Dr Bharti Kashyap was felicitated by Varanasi Cantt legislator Jyotsana Srivastava at the inaugural ceremony of three day Conference organised by AICON and BHU from March 21 to 22. Dr Kashyap was given the award for her contribution in Vision for Rural Jharkhand Campaign that was run especially for the people belonging to the poor and downtrodden sections of society.
Notably, Dr Kashyap maintains the record of doing the first eye implantation in Jharkhand. She has treated over 10 lakh government school students from Maoist affected areas including Saranda, Palamau, Saryu and Khunti. These students were suffering from eye problems and some among them were facing difficulties in commuting to the state capital for proper treatment. Dr Bharti provided them spectacles through Mobile Vision Centre at free of cost during the campaign.
