After uproar and rounds of meeting, the construction work of much awaited Kantatoli flyover project kicked off on Monday. Considering the traffic load at one of the major avenues, the routes have been diverted accordingly. Entry of heavy vehicles from Khelgaon Chowk has been restricted entirely considering the new route plan besides ensuring safety of public during the ongoing construction work.
However, school buses, city buses including other light vehicles will be allowed to pass through Kantatoli Chowk to avert traffic load in other localities during the peak hours. The administration has constructed two side-lanes at Kantatoli Chowk for smooth vehicular movement, closing the main area, undergoing construction work.
Recently, Traffic SP Sanjay Ranjan Singh conducted a meeting with the officials of the company, handling the Kantatoli flyover project work and instructed the agency to provide all essential support to the city residents during the major construction task. “In accordance to the traffic load, the plan has been drafted. All heavy vehicles will be diverted towards Kokar Chowk and lalpur Chowk. After a while, the route plan will be revised in accordance to the requirement,” said the Traffic SP.
Meanwhile, in the wake of the increasing traffic load at Kokar and lalpur routes, the officials during the survey on Sunday evening had ordered their subordinates to clear the encroachment and shift the vegetable market at lalpur Chowk alongside the road towards the backyard or other place.
In the first phase, covering approximately 200 meter civil construction work beginning from Mangal Tower to Kantatoli Chowk, the work of constructing broad pillars have started off. Further, in an attempt to decongest a few busiest routes, the authorities are also ensuring that water pipelines passing through Kantatoli do not get damaged during piling foundation. Jharkhand Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation limited (JUIDCOl) in association with Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, GoJ is looking out for apt measures to prevent damage of pipes.
Notably, for the Kantatoli flyover, the State government has acquired 20.277 decimals of government land and 450.38 decimals of private land. According to the Detailed Project Report (DPR), the flyover from Kantatoli to Booty More covers 905 meter (length), 16.6 meter (width) and 7 meter (Height –off ground). Over Rs. 37 crore is being spent in constructing Kantatoli flyover.
