Kachhap report awaits official approval

The wait for report on death of Officer-in-Charge of Topchanchi police station Umesh Kachhap was extended for a few more days as the report awaits remarks from State Home Secretary NN Pandey.

Meeting with family members of the deceased Topchanchi OC, Chief Minister Raghubar Das had assured them that the report on reasons of suspicious death of Kachhap will be made public on Saturday.

“The report was submitted late Friday night in a closed envelope by the investigation committee to Home Secretary Pandey. As he is out of town for now, he will put his remarks on the report after he returns. Then, it will be forwarded to the Chief Secretary who will then send it to the CM. Then the report will be made public,” said Bipin Kachhap, nephew of Umesh Kachhap.

Kachhap was found hanging from the neck in his government quarter in suspicious conditions. Although police officials are calling it a suicide, Kachhap’s family members claim that he was forced to take his own life since a truck driver was shot near Rajganj under Hariharpur police station in Dhanbad.
