JVM chief Babulal Marandi extending party’s dissent against the land related policies of the Government has furnished a list of demands for its consideration.
While concluding JVM’s executive committee meeting on Wednesday, the party also threatened to bring Jharkhand at a grinding halt on May 18 if the concerns raised are not addressed amicably.
At the end of the meeting, the JVM came out with a political resolution justifying the recent agitations and dharna staged by the party and senior leaders, including Pradeep Yadav.
“Considering the success of the party’s ‘Haq aur Maati Bachao Yatra’ achieved in recently, we have decided to organise a torchlight protest on May 16 and blockade on May 18. We have placed demands before the Government expressing concerns over its highhandedness to crush all those who raise their voices against suppression of tribal and farmers,” said Marandi addressing media persons.
The party has sought a judicial probe into gram sabha conducted to acquire land for Adani Power at Godda, revocation of false cases filed against JVM legislator Pradeep Yadav, stopping forceful land acquisitions being done across the State, judicial investigation into the firing incidents happened at different places, taking back the CNT-SPT amendments done and ensuring proper market price for the land acquired from the farmers for non-agricultural purposes.
“This is not just the case about Pradeep Yadav. The Government is on a spree to silence all such voices rising against its unjust decisions. Our executive committee has unanimously decided to continue with the protests in future as well. All the block and district level, functionaries have been told to work in that direction and make the blockade successful,” said the JVM supremo.
JVM vice-president Saba Ahmed later said that in the meeting assessment of the April 29 protest organised by the party against the arrest of Pradeep Yadav was made.
“The programme has touched nearly 70 per cent blocks of the State. We have received good response and want to take this forward in future. This apart, the committee also looked into filling vacancies of office bearers at local level. Entire list of such positions in district committees and Morcha has not come yet which has been sought as early as possible,” said Ahmed.
As expected, jailed principal general secretary of the party Pradeep Yadav could not attend the all important convention in the want of permission from competent authority.
