JVM to hold two-day fast in H'bagh

Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) said on Tuesday that the party has decided to hold a two-day fast on August 30-31 at Zila School in Hazaribagh. The fast led by JVM (P) supremo Babulal Marandi will be supported by senior leaders of Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) and Janta Dal (United) (JD-U), the ruling parties of neighbouring state Bihar.

Announcing the programme, JVM (P) General Secretary Pradeep Yadav said that the fast would sharpen party’s fight against the policies of the government in the State. He said that the Government was not willing to attract the views of the other side at all and was busy in imposing rules and regulations the way it wanted. He also said that a fresh demand of complete liquor ban in the State would be floated during the fast. “Current government has launched a plethora of anti-public and anti-Jharkhand policies from the day it came into existence. The land acquisition policy through which this government wants to acquire land would leave villagers and small land owners with begging bowls in their hands. We will keep fighting against any review or amendment in CNT and SPT Acts in the State,” said Yadav.

The party leaders, present at the occasion, said that the agenda on which the Government was working led to not the rehabilitation, but the replacement and draining of local villagers. Yadav said, “We only want that the land Acquisition Bill, 2013 be the only parameter for land acquisition activities in the State, which ensures a strict non-acquisition of agriculture lands except extremely limited purposes. But the government is playing with words to snatch agriculture lands from poor villagers.”

The party gave examples of land acquired in the region during 1994 for half a dozen companies including HEC, saying that the land was neither given to those companies, nor were being returned back to land owners.
