The Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) has put the State Government in dock over teachers’ appointment of Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) pass outs. The party expressed apprehension that the formula adopted for filling up the vacancies would leave out number of local candidates and also fail to fill-up the number of posts available.
Yadav in his barrage of attacks on the Government questioned the insufficient weightage being given on TET scores in comparison to educational qualifications of any candidate. He claimed, that this would benefit those who have scored handsomely due to CBSE pattern or coming from urban and affluent backgrounds.
Yadav also questioned the logic behind keeping 50 per cent seats reserved in the appointment of Urdu teachers for SC, ST and OBC whereas almost negligible numbers of students from the categories are available for selection. “There are 4,400 vacancies for Urdu teachers and half of those are not going to be filled. The Government should fill this with other candidates from unreserved category,” he said.
The party has written letters to Chief Minister Hemant Soren, HRD Minister Geetashree Oraon and HRD Secretary K Vidyasagar highlighting the loopholes and has given them time till August 3 to act upon. “If not paid any heed, the youth wing of the JVM would gherao the Assembly on August 4 taking along the agitating TET passed students,” announced the MlA.
This apart, the Farmers’ Wing of the party would also stage a protest at Raj Bhawan on August 1 over poor monsoon rains in the State and highlighting the apathy of the farmers who, the party claimed, were suffering due to callousness from the part of the Government.
