JVM promises to amend domicile policy

Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) at the conclusion of  its two-day central working committee meeting passed a strong resolution promising amendments into the domicile policy, framing people centric policies, along with clarifying its stand over current illegal immigrants issue.

The committee headed by JVM chief and former Chief Minister of the State Babulal Marandi on Sunday termed the existing domicile policy meant to define those eligible for reservation in class III and IV vacancies as faulty and discriminatory.

“The ruling Government has formulated a domicile policy depriving tribal, dalits, backwards, women, minorities and moolvasis of Jharkhand from the rights given to them under the Constitution. Identifying those people is the need of the hour in Jharkhand. The Government instead drafted a new definition of locals or domiciles and excluded a large section. We would formulate a new and just domicile policy,” reads the resolution.

This apart, the party sticking to its old demand directed to safeguarding jal, jungle and zameen in the State blamed the BJP-led Government for favouring the interests of corporate houses.

“This has been proven without any doubt that the Government of the day is working for benefiting its corporate friends at the cost of poor, deprived tribals of the State. Their land and resources are being looted in the name of development. If anyone stands between them such voices are suppressed and crushed going beyond the democratic principles. If failed, they kick-up any other issue as diversionary tactic to distract attention of the masses from real issues,” said party principal general secretary Pradeep Yadav.

The resolution also talked considerably about 2019 parliamentary polls with a pledge to unseat the ruling dispensation with a more “democratic” regime to work for restoring social fabrics, welfare nature of governance and the one who cares for set principles and values. “The party would mobilise people for a democratic uprising to dethrone the dictatorial regime so that unity and sovereignty of the country are protected,” he added.

Talking about burning issue of illegal immigrants came and settled in various parts of the country especially from Bangladesh, the party clarified that it was for showing such people door and drive them out. “We support the attempt to drive out any illegal person residing inside the country which can prove detrimental to our safety and security. But this cannot be an alibi to target a particular community for the sake of political gains. The drive should not disturb the social harmony,” reads the resolution which mysteriously maintained a silence over political alliance.

In the end JVM blamed the BJP for using unholy means to “buy its MlAs” and sought for ordering CBI probe and ending their membership which it felt, was violation of the anti-defection law. The party also resolved to take the issue before the people during polls.

Decision to hold Rs Adivasi Sammelan’ in Ranchi on August 19 and at Hazaribagh on August 28, at Koderma on August 29 and on September 23 at Palamau was also taken. Jharkhandi Sammelan at Constitution Club at Delhi would take place on October 1.
