JVM out to fill vacant positions

Currently into resurrection mode following a series of setbacks faced by the party in recent times, the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) is all set to fill crucial positions in the party in the near future. The posts include as important as of vice-presidents, general secretaries and secretaries.

“We have seen some of the leaders ejecting from the party in recent times. As the party is now in the rebuilding mode and need workers and leaders at ground levels, we also need to fill top positions that had fallen vacant. During the central executive committee meeting planned for January 17-18, we would discuss the issue and some names may be finalised,” said a senior party functionary informing about agenda for the conclave.

The Babulal Marandi headed party has seen its senior leaders such as vice presidents Gautam Sagar Rana and KP Sharma, general secretary Dulal Bhuiyan and Pravin Singh and secretary Vijay Ram among the others leaving before and after the Assembly polls. This apart, it lost several sitting MlAs to the BJP after the election that had virtually jolted the party from inside.

“We would have to run series of programmes to reinstate the party. Programmes like agitations and protests on domicile and employment policies, ever powered bureaucracy, puppet show of the Government before the Centre and plight of farmers and migrants in the State have been planned. We need leaders to guide those,” said legislative body leader Pradeep Yadav confirming about the churn.

During the executive body meeting, the party functionaries would also brainstorm to renew future course of action, direction, programmes and agendas in order to reinstate JVM among the masses. “Deserters have presented the party in a very poor shape before our supporters. Though we have been able to maintain our image among the voters as an idealistic party that fights for the cause of deprived sections but this has to be taken further. There is a need to take our programmes and policies before the voters afresh,” said Yadav.

In the deliberation, it has been learnt the party would focus particularly to tap youths into its fold and intensive membership drive would be conducted throughout the State for the purpose.
