JVM only option, says Marandi

Preparing well ahead for  the next electoral battle, the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) chief Babulal Marandi presented the party as the only dependable option before the electorates. However, he also stressed upon unity of the Opposition to dent the ruling BJP even more.

Addressing JVM’s Executive Committee meeting on its inaugural day on Friday, the first Chief Minister of the State called on the workers and leaders to strengthen the party in every part of the State.

“Jharkhand has entered into its 18th anniversary which is extremely important and crucial for both the State, politics and its people. This is a decisive phase when the State has attained maturity. JVM has a crucial role to play in all this. Anger against the BJP is growing and people know that only the JVM can dethrone the ruling party, and not anyone else,” said Marandi speaking on the occasion.

Talking about coalition with other parties, Marandi said that all should prepare in their own way. “Electorates are undecided at present and we all in the Opposition should chip in to grab their disenchantment. All parties are working in their own way but ultimately there should not be segregation of votes,” added the party supremo.

During the two-day meeting the party think tank would discuss relevant issues at hand besides, building the party ahead of forthcoming elections in the form of lok Sabha and Assembly. A political resolution would also be passed on the concluding day on Saturday depicting its politics and agendas.

“The political resolution would be focused on strengthening our party right up to booth level. Series of conventions would be planned comprising booth, blocks, districts and State levels. Though it is not going much deeper into coalition issue since lots of time is left but surely our leadership would brainstorm,” said senior party office bearer KK Poddar.

Insiders admitted that JMM’s stubborn attitude is indeed a major stumbling block in the way of Opposition unity. JVM with Congress, the left and others had sat on dharna before Raj Bhawan on farmers, tribal, land acquisition and CNT-SPT issue minus the main Opposition JMM.

“They are of the view that the JMM is the largest Opposition party and also the most important one. They want their executive president Hemant Soren to be declared as leader of the bloc whereas the rest are for Babulal Marandi as leader. Instead of sabotaging the cause for the sake of leadership we should postpone it till the poll results and come together to defeat the BJP,” said a general secretary of the party.

Besides, the Executive Committee meeting would also see agendas to be set in the form of lowering farm production and income, rising farmer debt, land loot and appeasement for the corporate houses and industries.
