JVM livid at DDC's contractual recruitment

Published on:

Objecting to the initiative taken by the State Government to rope in private candidates for the post of Deputy Development Commissioners (DDC) on contractual basis, JVM MlA Pradeep Yadav alleged that the Government wanted to put its own people on such important posts so that it can act arbitrarily.

Raising the issue in the House during calling attention motion, Yadav said that this will only pave way for corruption in the State. “It is the beginning of a wrong tradition in the State which will only pave way for corruption. It is a move by the State Government to put its own candidates and also to establish people of their own ideology on these coveted posts from where crores of funds will be sanctioned,” said Yadav. Since, the candidate will be posted for a short span, he/she will only find ways of looting the Government; hence, we have suggested that old tradition must be followed in the recruitment of DDCs, added Yadav.

Chief Minister Raghubar Das, however, rejecting the allegations made by Yadav cleared that although House is supreme, the decision has been taken by the state government in the interest of the people of this State.

“The Government always takes decision in the interest of the people and this decision too has been taken keeping in view the interest of the people. As it is in majority there is no binding on the State Government; it can even make secretary to anyone if it finds him suitable for the job,” said the CM.

Rural Development Minister Neelkanth Singh Munda also added that the decision has been taken by the Cabinet in order to get better people for the job so that the developmental work in the State could be expedited.

Meanwhile, in view of the diminishing law and order across the State, BJP MlA Biranchi Narayn, through calling attention motion, demanded CCTV monitoring for all major districts in the State.

Citing example of his constituency in the House, Narayan said that crime graph has remarkably gone down in the last three months after installation of CCTV cameras at some of the vulnerable spots. He demanded CCTV cameras for all major industrial cities in  Jharkhand.

“CCTV cameras at every important location in districts must be installed so that crime control could be done in the State. It will help in bringing down crime graph of the area and also in cracking the crimes,” said Narayan. The Bokaro MlA successfully got CCTV cameras installed in his constituency by releasing a fund of Rs 12 lakh for the purpose.

Agreeing to his demand, Munda immediately announced that CCTV cameras at all vulnerable locations will be installed in Ranchi as a pilot project and on the basis of its success, it will be later expanded to other districts in the State.

Meanwhile, a unanimous decision was taken by all political parties not to intervene in the results declared for fifth JPSC civil services examination as the matter was pending in the court of law. A meeting of the leaders of all parties was held at the Speakers chamber on Thursday after it remained inconclusive on Wednesday.
