Enraged over Government slapping case after case against its party leader in Assembly and General Secretary Pradeep Yadav following protests of proposed Adani power plant in Godda, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) has said that the party would keep its protests in the matter alive until justice was delivered to locals. The party knocked the Governor’s door on Thursday during one day fast in front of Rajbhawan, seeking interference of supreme custodian of State in the matter.
“Neither the matter is new, nor is our protest against it. Since day one, the Government has appeared dancing on the tunes of Adani. We fail to understand why Adani power plant should be established at the cost of livelihood of locals when electricity produced here would be exported to Bangladesh and Jharkhand will get nothing out of it,” said JVM Chief and ex-CM Babulal Marandi who was accompanied by ex-Union Minister and senior Congress leader Subodh Kant sahay and others in fast.
Marandi appeared disturbed with local Government officials slapping fresh case on Pradeep Yadav, who has been sitting on indefinite fast since April 16 at proposed power plant site in Poreyahat (Godda). “Slapping cases by government against whosesoever raises voices of locals is utterly suppressive move of our civil rights and we will be fighting for those locals who have nothing other than their lands for livelihood till until legitimate demands of locals are met and their constitutional rights remains protected,” said Marandi.
JVM has requested the Governor through its memorandum that land acquisition process for Adani power plant should be hold without delay and judicial enquiry of entire processes so far should be initiated under one of the sitting judges of Jharkhand High Court.
“We also demand initiating sedition charges against Poreyahat Circle Officer for lodging an FIR against Pradeep Yadav and labeling those singing National Anthem a mob, in which the CO also claimed to be present,” said JVM in its memorandum to the Governor.
The party also said in its memorandum that the administration was busy suppressing voices of locals and was arranging dummy rayyats since last year.
