Thousands of JVM supporters on Saturday defied the bandh called by dozens of organizations on the issue of domicile and turned at Ranchi’s Morhabadi ground to assert their views on the special status to Jharkhand. The supporters flocked from different parts of the State and surpassed hurdles on the way to join hands to work in the direction of special status for the State.
The rally was organised by the youth wing of the JVM which collected around one lakh signatures from people across the State. The political rally kicked off at 12 pm as party workers from different parts of the state were pouring in and lasted till 3.30 without any trouble from the protestor’s end. The rally was addressed by party stalwarts who criticized the state government for failing to argue Jharkhand’s case on special status at the Centre.
The party under the leadership of party chief Babulal Marandi embarked on a march to Raj Bhawan to submit the memorandum on the coveted status to the Governor Syed Ahmed. Interestingly, the march was not intercepted anywhere by bandh supporters. “We met the governor at 5 pm and handed over the memo signed by about one lakh people who want special status for the State,” said JVM spokesperson Saroj Singh.
