Justice DN Patel of Jharkhand High Court visited JP Central Jail Hazaribagh on Saturday evening. He spent about 2 hours inside the jail premises and took a close look of the hospital, cottage industry units running inside the campus and talked with some jail inmates.

On Saturday justice DN Patel first went straight to Koderma and inspected the Koderma jail premises. While returning he inspected the under construction buildings of jail and civil court at Barhi sub-division of Hazaribagh district.

On both places he talked with the officials of concerned departments and gave special instructions.

In JP Central Jail Justice Patel inaugurated the newly established blood test unit in jail’s hospital. He talked with some jail inmates and gave an assistance of `81000 provided by the special fund made for the poor inmates specially the women inmates. This amount will be used in providing them special care and essential needs besides legal aid.

Justice Patel also took a close look of the kitchen of JP Central Jail and enquired about the food quality provided to the jail inmates daily. From kitchen he moved towards the cottage industry units. He specially visited the handicraft unit, furniture making unit and printing press unit from where many items are supplied to the courts of the State.

The visit of Justice Patel was a surprise for many administrative and jail officials. Our sources said that at Barhi the officials of building division were not ready for this visit and as they came to know about this visit, senior officers ran towards Barhi but their efforts went in vain because by that time justice Patel had already finished the inspection work.
