Giving rest to all predictions and to address the need of quality healthcare services in the State, the Health department will open the much-awaited Ranchi Sadar hospital services equiped with all facilities by July this year.
The new building of Sadar Hospital has been lying unused since 2012, waiting to become operational.
looking at the present status of the hospital, a few months back, the state health department was clueless as to when the 550-bed structure of Ranchi Sadar hospital will start functioning due to slow repair procedure and delay in procurement of basic infrastructural requirements.
However, in a recent review meeting of the Health department, it was decided to begin the operation of Ranchi Sadar Hospital from July. “The deadline has been extended from April to July 2016. The work is in progress and the department too is concerned about its operation as earliest as possible. The committee too has been constituted to look into various matters which include installation of latest equipment, division of wards, registration counters and others,” said the Director, Health Services, Dr Pravin Chandra.
The building has been lying unused for more than four years now and a lot of repair work is also pending in the designated section marked to become operational. Apart from this, as building has been left for more than a year, basic infrastructural renovation will be required too before beginning the medical services.
“Though the project was delayed, but we have completed approximately 90 percent restoration work inside the hospital. As far as recruitment of doctors is concerned, they will be deputed as per the requirement considering the feasibility. The service will start with 200 beds. All other formalities are being considered. The tender for procuring equipment has been floated too,” pointed out Chandra.
Notably, it had been agreed in 2015 that the five-storey building built as a super specialty wing will be an extension of the old district hospital building after the state government failed to run it on Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode and linking the project with few renowned hospitals. The health department had earlier announced March 31 deadline for starting the facility at the hospital. It was later extended to April but the department failed to meet the designated deadline.
