Para teachers protest on job regularisation continued on 14th day on Monday. The protest has begun on May 3. To mark their protest, all the eligible candidates on Monday took out the procession march from Governor House to Albert Ekka Chowk demanding to appoint all the JTET passed teachers in different district as earliest.
The qualified teachers walked with banners and posters in hand to covey their message to the HRD Minister, Secretary and other higher officials. “We will continue the protest, as we fulfill all the criteria eligible for getting appointed. Our demands are genuine. On May 18, we have planned to gherao the residence of HRD Minister,” said, State Convener of JTET pass teacher association, Bajrang Prasad.
However, so far none of the protesters have consulted any officials to clarify the matter. The eligible teachers earlier were assured that they will be recruited within the stimulated time, after the teacher’s delegation met the School Education and literacy Secretary, Aradhana Patnaik three months back in the presence of Gumla MlA Shivshankar Oraon.
All these eligible candidates are demanding for permanent recruitment as primary teachers in several Government schools functioning in various districts across the State.
“The State Government is serious about the recruitment procedure and maximum candidates have been adjusted. The Government is trying to appoint people and request the eligible candidates who are protesting to wait for the time being. As far as, earlier recruitment process is concerned, the Government has maintained the transparency in the entire teachers’ recruitment process. Moreover, according to the prescribed norms, every individual who have cleared the exam cannot be appointed, as there is a set of norms for appointment,” said, State HRD Minister, Neera Yadav.
All these protesters have support of 42 MlAs both from ruling and opposition party. Protestors claim that large numbers of post of primary teachers are lying vacant in the schools of the State but the State Government is not initiating the recruitment drive for these posts and have planned to conduct another examination in July 2016.
