Para teachers protest on job regularisation continues on eighth day as all the eligible candidates on Tuesday gheraoed the residence of State HRD Minister, Neera Yadav demanding to appoint all the JTET passed teachers as earliest as possible. These eligible candidates claim to have support of 42 MlAs both from ruling and opposition party.

The qualified teachers walked with banners and posters in hand to convince the Minister and will continue their protest, until all their demands are fulfilled. “We are receiving support from different people, they too consider our demands are genuine and we are deliberately not being given our rights,” said, state convener of JTET pass teacher association, Bajrang Prasad.

However, these protesters failed to meet the Minister on Tuesday. The Minister is in Godda for election campaign for the upcoming bypolls and hence cannot be approached. The protest has begun on May 3.

Earlier too teachers talks had failed with the HRD Minister Neera Yadav on January 28.

The teachers earlier were assured that they will be recruited within the stimulated time, after the teacher’s delegation met the School Education and literacy Secretary, Aradhana Patnaik three months back in the presence of Gumla MlA Shivshankar Oraon.

Protestors claim that large numbers of post of primary teachers are lying vacant in the schools of the state but the State Government is not initiating the recruitment drive for these posts and have planned to conduct another examination in July 2016.

According to the protesters, there are several loopholes in the recruitment process. As many as 500 women from across the state have yet not been recruited even after fulfilling all eligibility criteria. 40 per cent recruitment is counterfeit.
