It has been more than a month since the Jharkhand State Commission for Women (JSCW) has appointed its new chairperson and within this short span of time as many as 14 cases have been disposed which were pending from past one year.
JSCW Chairperson Mahua Manjhi taking credit for her work said, “I have heard end number of complaints from the compliant regarding commission delay work culture. So I made it my prime motto to dispose the pending cases first.”
She further added that ever since the authority has come into her hands she had left no stone unturned in accomplishing the goal. As many as three hearing have called so far at regular intervals for early disposing the cases which in past one year was lacking.
However, the cases which were settled by the commission were related to the demand of BPl cards, widow pension, Indira Aiwas and domestic violence. Still 1,200 cases are on the files whose hearing is yet to commence.
“We are trying our level best in solving the pending cases and are hopeful that within couple of months will be able to settle all the cases,” added Manjhi
Meanwhile, Manjhi mentioned that Commission apart from noted cases has also disposed such cases which are not mentioned on the files and on the condition of anonymity were brought in the eye of the commission.
As many as five cases have been disposed in the recent hearing held at JSWC on Monday. Out of 40 cases 30 cases hearing was conducted. The commission has sent four cases to the department concerned seeking their reports while 15 cases were kept pending for disposal and the compliant and the defender in the remaining cases failed to appear before the commission.
JSCW legal Advisor AK Jha Said, “The commission would have been succeeded in disposing more number of cases but the irony is that majority of time either the compliant or the defender fail to appear before the commission as a result the case hang out to the next hearing.”
He further added that the commission is receiving new cases application once the old cases are disposed the commission will look into the new cases too.
