It was the special general body meeting of Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) in Hazaribagh on Saturday. The actual meeting lasted only for seven minutes and then the people responsible for managing and administering the cricket in this State presented a good show of their skill in freestyle wrestling before the people and media here on Saturday.
At 12 noon the special general body meeting of JSCA started under the chairmanship of president Amitabh Chaudhary. Since this meeting was called on a single agenda so within minutes decision was taken and at 12:07 pm it ended. The members confirmed the decision of the executive body of JSCA about the expulsion of its five members.
When the meeting was under progres, about two dozen youths came with posters and banners and started shouting slogans against president Amitabh Choudhary and the Giridih District Cricket Association. The protesters assembled in the lawn, just in front of banquet hall. In the meantime, the members of JSCA came out of the hall and started encircling the protesters.
The protesters finally burnt the effigy of Amitabh Choudhary in the lawn and as some of them tried to kick on the effigy, suddenly the scene changed. The lawn of Hotel Sunrise Inn converted into the ring of freestyle wrestling and soon the protestors started fleeing away. Those who failed to escape were badly beaten by the JSCA members. Choudhary also left the premises when the media was busy in capturing the fight scenes.
The JSCA members finally handed over Faiyaz and Ashraf to local police. Talking to newsmen Sanjay Singh of JSCA said that it was a sponsored protest show and those who were in it have nothing to do with cricket. He informed that special general body of JSCA has confirmed the expulsion of ex-members Sunil Kumar Singh, Jeetu Patel, Bhanu Pratap, Sachin Kumar and VS Dubey.
In the evening, Ex-Secretary Sunil Kumar Singh, who is among the five expelled members, talked with the media and said that dirty politics is going on in JSCA. “We have raised the issues such as mismanagement of fund, misuse of fund, irregularities etc and have contested the election of executive body that’s why this decision has been taken. We have faith in both media and judiciary, first we will try to make the members aware of the truth and if situation will not change we will move to court,” he added.
