JPSC-PT results 'flawed,' aspirants to hold mass rally

This year too aspirants of Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) raised objections on State Combined Civil Service (CCS) Examination Prelims Test (PT) examination. The commission had declared the result for 5th civil services on Thursday.

“The cut-off marks for both BC II and General categories are same 138 out of 200 marks. It can never be same for two categories. Moreover, the answers of 12 questions were printed incorrect wherein JPSC had requested applicants to submit queries after which it would release the key answer. But, it was never done,” Chatra Jagran Manch’s president Manoj Kumar said. Kumar along with some local candidates of this examination carried a small protest on Thursday.

Agitating candidates also blamed the Commission for not making sufficient reservation for domiciles and have decided to hold a mass rally against the injustice at the state capital on Monday. The examination was conducted on December 15 last year.

On the other hand JPSC is defending the result and maintained that all provisions and guidelines of reservation rules had been followed. JPSC Examination Controller Sumant Kumar Sinha said, “As per the norms of the Supreme Court, we were supposed to clear name 13 times more than the available posts in case of deciding the cut off mark for each category including Backward Classes (I and II), Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes and General.

The seats for BC-II were comparatively less this time. So, it is equivalent to the cut off marks of the General. Moreover, if we keep publishing the model answer sheets of correct answers then the final result would have never been published.”

Among the mentioned categories, 2290 General, 774 ST, 357 SC, 272 BC-I, 205 BC-II candidates have been shortlisted. In the women quota 238 candidates consisting 99 General and 131 ST candidates have been shortlisted. 14, 39 and 15 candidates have been shortlisted in the Handicapped category involving Blind, Deaf and Dumb as well as locomotive. 21 candidates are selected on the basis of sports quota.

Overlooking this result published on JPSC’s website, the members of Chatra Jagran Manch have blamed the state commission for not considering seats for women and specially abled. Also, they feel that the result published by the commission bears 60 per cent seats for domiciles outside the state and only 40 per cent of State domiciles. Sinha maintained that these charges are incorrect. “We have strictly followed 50 per cent State domicile quota,” he said.
