controversies, court cases, protests and students’ ire. The latest in the row of disappointment for the aspirants of the Combined Civil Services examination is the unprecedented delay in the 6th JPSC examination that has been marred with several issues.
Students allege that due to lackadaisical approach adopted by the State Government, the 6th JPSC Examination is being delayed as requirements for conducting the examinations are not being fulfilled by it. Though the decks have been cleared for the examination by JPSC, the State Government is yet to provide new syllabus of the regional languages recently included in the examination leading to the delay.
“We are ready to conduct the examination but are unable to do so as syllabus for regional languages have not yet been provided to us on the basis of which the question will be decided for the same,” said JPSC Secretary Manoj Kumar Jha. Until the syllabus is provided, it is impossible to conduct the examination, he added.
Jha further added that the JPSC is also in doldrums, whether the examination for 6th and 7th JPSC will be taken together of not. “Though Chief Minister Raghubar Das has announced that examinations for the 6th and 7th JPSC will be taken together, the State government has not cleared its stand so far in this regard,” said the Secretary. Moreover, the exact number of vacancies for 7th JPSC has not been intimated so far to the JPSC leading to the further delay in the conducting the examination, he added.
By conducting both examinations together, more aspirants could be provided jobs at a time and backlog of one year will also get decreased, he said.
City based coaching institutions, on the other hand, alleged that the examination is being delayed due to lack of co-ordination between the departments of the State Government as they have failed to provide number of vacant posts to the Personnel Department.
“As the examination has already been delayed, they are suggesting merging of both sixth and seventh JPSC examinations together which is not practical,” said Director of a Coaching Institute requesting anonymity.
The Sixth JPSC Examination will be of 400 marks divided into two papers of 200 marks each. First paper will be of General Studies, while the second paper will include Jharkhand centric questions, having all questions related to Jharkhand only. Earlier, there used to have one paper of General Studies of 200 marks.
Partial corrections have also been made for the Main examination where it will have a total of 1050 marks, which earlier used to be of 1000 marks. Now, second paper of local languages and literature will be of 150 marks where there will be options of Regional and Tribal languages. Interview will remain to be of 100 marks.
Several atempts to take the version of Personnel Department remained futile as the senior offcials remined out of reach to comment on the crucial issue connected with thousands of aspirants' future.
