The candidates, whose answer books were rejected in the fifth public services examination conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) continue fast unto death demanding to fulfill all the necessary changes which is required. So far all the four JPSC exams conducted in the past 15 years have been in controversy for some or the other reasons.
The protesting candidates are demanding that the rejected copies of mains examinations should be accepted and the interview round of the examination should be cancelled on grounds of discrepancies in the test.
“Several candidates with consecutive roll numbers have qualified the mains examination which in itself indicates that corrupt practices have been used to benefit some particular people. The fact is that neither in the history of UPSC nor in any other State Public Service Commission examination such thing have happened, if any, rarely 2-3 candidates of consecutive roll numbers have been found in mains result. But in JPSC result roll numbers of 16 candidates who have qualified the mains exam are having consecutive roll numbers,” said K M Choubey, a JPSC aspirant.
Similarly, another JPSC candidate Reshma Minz said, “Total 2,085 candidates appeared in the 5th JPSC mains examination, out of which copies of 618 candidates (approximately one third of total) have been rejected on some frivolous technical ground. On the other hand, one of the successful candidates in mains examination, a daughter of the then top JPSC officer, appeared in the examination without furnishing the details of her relationship with the officer.”
However, as time is passing candidates are receiving support from various politicians. On fifth day of the protest, Congress leaders assured all the candidates that all support will be provided to the candidates irrespective of any pressure. JMM party MlA from Silli Amit Mahato, Jharkhand Vikash Morcha – Prajatantrik general secretary Pradeep Yadav and party supremo Babulal Marandi have already lend their support to all JPSC candidates.
However, the commission is citing its own reasons for rejecting 618 copies. “So far we have maintained transparency in the result. After the entire process gets over, we are going to upload all the answers sheets. Presently everything is under procedure and commission will not entertain any candidates regarding the matter,” said JPSC Secretary, Manoj Kumar Jha.
Copies of 618 students were rejected on various grounds which includes violation of discretion as the copies submitted in the mains were not properly sealed as per the guidelines issued by the public service commission. Few candidates have not clearly mentioned their roll numbers.
