JPSC calls universities to discuss outstanding issues

Published on:

Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) seems to be into image making exercise besides to increase its efficiency and to convert JPSC as a professional body as the JPSC has invited teaching and non-teaching staffs of universities of Jharkhand to place their suggestions and concerns before JPSC.

The JPSC, which is now headed by former IPS and cricket boss Amitabh Choudhary has fixed four days namely December 17, 18, 22 and 23, on which concerned teaching and non-teaching staffs can visit JPSC for their suggestions and concerns by giving the prior information to the commission.

Nine universities namely Ranchi University, Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University (December 17), Vinoba Bhave University, Sido Kanhu Murmu University (December 18), Nilambar Pitambar University, Kolhan University (December 21), Raksha Shakti University, Jharkhand Technical University and Birsa Agricultural University (December 22) have been invited for this.

This is widely believed that this exercise is meant to communicate with universities and employees to understand outstanding demands as well as logistic issues faced by universities like pending promotion, shortage of teaching and non-teaching staff.

Sources in the JPSC said that the exercise is aimed to understand concerns of universities.

This is evident from the fact that Governor Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday summoned JPSC chairperson Amitabh Choudhary at the Raj Bhavan.

The Governor directed him to take steps to clear pending promotion, backlog appointments and to fill-up vacant posts at university and college level. The meeting continued for half an hour where Choudhary informed the Governor that steps were being taken for recruitment and other urgent matters.

The Hemant Soren government appointed Choudhary as JPSC chairperson in October this year. This was considered a well-calculated move to appoint a throughout professional to streamline functioning of the JPSC which unfortunately became den of corruption.
