JPSC aspirants in quandary ahead of Mains examination

Confusion prevails among Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) aspirants as they are yet to get admit cards for Mains examination scheduled on January 28. Candidates have to download their admit cards from JPSC website www.jpsc.gov.in , but with just three days left many are still facing difficulties in downloading admit cards from website. Also, those who have received the admit cards say it carries errors, such as candidate’s name, date or birth and subjects, said students.

Digvijay Kumar, 25-year-old youth and resident of Deoghar was spotted near JPSC office. The youth is camping in State Capital for past three days as he has failed to download the admit cards. “I am in Ranchi for past three days for getting my admit cards as I have failed to download it from commission website. I had visited the commission office for several times, but there is no one to hear our woes,” he said.  The youth further said, “You can imagine the state of mind we are facing. Due to JPSC’s negligence we students are facing the problem.”

Digvijay’s is not an isolated case, echoing the views of Digvijay, another candidate Amardeep Rawat, who had come from Hazaribagh for getting his admit card said, “Due to JPSC’s negligence we students are facing the difficulties. The biggest problem is that there is no one to see about our grievances.”

As the mains examination dates of JPSC gets closer the things are becoming murkier day-by-day. The commission based on Preliminary Test (PT) held in December 2016 had issued the results of 34,634 candidates for mains which is nearly 106 times more than total sanctioned posts (the sanctioned post is 326). Sources said that even the commission has not followed the necessary reservation roaster for test. Based on above anomalies, some candidates have knocked the door of Jharkhand High Court seeking justice with the matter being sub-judice at Jharkhand High Court. Leaders from both Opposition as well as ruling parties have urged the government to postpone the examination scheduled on January 28 in larger interest of students.

Even the JPSC is in doldrums whether they will be able to able to conduct the test as per its schedule. The newly appointed JPSC secretary, Ranendra Kumar said, “As the matter is sub-judice, High Court will decide whether to conduct the examination or not.” However, the secretary feigned ignorance that many students are facing difficulties in downloading the admit cards assuring that he will look into the issue.

The JPSC in 2015 issued the advertisement of 326 administrative posts. The PT examination was held on December 2016, while the results were declared on February 2017. The commission declared the results of 5,400 candidates, however, months later it revised the results declaring 6100 candidates as successful. As per earlier examination calendar, the mains test was to be held on January 29, 2018, however, some candidates approached the High Court with a plea that no reservation roaster was followed.

The State government to look into the grievances of candidates and other anomalies constituted a committee headed by state revenue and land reforms minister Amar Bauri. On August last year the JPSC again issued fresh results declaring 34,634 candidates eligible for the Mains examination.

As per JPSC examination schedule the Mains examination will be held from January 28 to February 1. The Mains paper consist of 1050 marks with 100 marks compulsory (Hindi/English), 150 marks papers on regional languages, and four papers each consisting of 200 marks on subjects.
