Following the instruction of All India Congress Committee (AICC), Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) on Wednesday decided in a meeting that it will hold demonstrations against rapidly increasing prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas. In front of all petrol pumps across the State on June 11, the party workers will symbolically protest by carrying placards in their hands, following the Corona guidelines and social distancing orders.
Presiding the meeting held at the party headquarter in the State Capital, JPCC Chief Rameshwar Oraon said that the price of petrol, diesel and LPG is touching the sky. “Petrol price has touched Rs 100 per liter while diesel price is also following the price of petrol for the first time in the last 73 years. The cost of cooking gas has spoiled the budget of the women's kitchen so that the party will protest against it on June 11 across the State in front of every petrol pump,” he added.
Oraon said that in such a situation, it is necessary to run a comprehensive program against the attitude of the Central Government. JPCC Working president Keshav Mahto Kamlesh, Rajesh Thakur and other leaders were also present in the meeting.
The JPCC Chief said that due to rising inflation, at present people wish to return to the old days before the year 2014. During the UPA regime, when the price of crude oil was at the highest rate in the international market, the price of petrol and diesel did not increase that much even at that time. At the same time, when there was an increase of some money during the UPA regime, BJP leaders from the Center to the Block level used to come out on the streets. Today the same BJP leaders are silent. They are compelled to curse their own Central Government in their mind because this inflation has had a huge impact on their domestic budget as well,” he added.
“In the last 13 months, the Central Government has increased the price of petrol by about Rs 25 (24.90) and that of diesel by Rs 23.09 per liter. This shows the profiteering of the Central Government. In 2014, when the price of crude oil used to be Rs 108 per barrel, petrol was available at Rs 71.51 per liter and diesel Rs 55.49 per liter during the UPA regime. But the Narendra Modi Government at the Center has earned a profit of Rs 22 lakh crore by imposing unrestrained tax on petrol and diesel in 7 years, while crude oil has come down from Rs 20 to Rs 65 per barrel in the last 7 years. Even once the price of crude oil was up to Rs 10 per barrel. Despite this, the people of the Country are not getting any benefit,” said Oraon.
