Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) on Monday staged a sit-in near Raj Bhavan to 'Save the Constitution, Save Democracy'. The sit-in programme was led by JPCC Chief and Finance Minister, Rameshwar Oraon.

Congress leaders attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Central Government during the programme for usurping power through backdoor. They accused the BJP of messing with the Constitution and democracy of the Country. They also lodged protests through posters during the programme. In this poster it was written that till what time the basic structure of the Constitution will be destroyed, the BJP has made the Constitution a circus and Congress MLAs will not participate in the floor test in Rajasthan all of them are with the party.

Speaking on the occasion Oraon said that during the time of global crisis COVID 19 and when the whole world is struggling to deal with this crisis, the BJP has crossed all limits to grab power. "This is happening for the first time after independence in the Country, when the work of demolishing the democratically elected government is being done by abusing Constitutional institutions like Raj Bhavan," he added.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Congress Legislature Party leader Alamgir Alam said that the party condemns the disgusting act of killing democratic values and weakening the constitutional institutions.

Attacking BJP, Health Minister Banna Gupta said that in recent times, an attempt has been made to promote horse trading. With this, the real character of the BJP has been revealed to the people of the Country, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Agriculture Minister Badal said that in the hour of this crisis, when the Country's economy is collapsing, people are becoming unemployed,  industries are closing down and people's employment has been snatched away. "Instead of providing help to the people in distress in such a situation, the BJP is engaged in a disgusting attempt to grab power," he added.

Former Union Minister Subodh Kant Sahay said that the flag of the Constitution is being destroyed in many parts by the Central Government. "Raj Bhavan is being pressurized into forming and spoiling the Government," he added.

Lone Loksabha MP of the party from the State, Geeta Koda said that the game started by the BJP during the Corona crisis is wrong. Efforts to strangle democracy should be stopped, he added.

Keshav Mahato Kamlesh and Rajesh Thakur, acting presidents of the State Congress Committee, said that instead of fighting with China, the Central Government is putting strength in fighting the Congress and is destroying the democracy of India.

Umashankar Akela, Rajesh Kachhap, Gunjan Singh, Gajendra Prasad Singh, Kumar Gaurav, Alok Dubey, Lalkishorenath Shahdeo, Rajesh Gupta and many leaders of the Party were present during the sit-in.
