Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) on Saturday held a Candle Marsh on martyrdom of around 700 martyrs during the entire year-long farmers' agitation, demanding the repeal of the three anti-farmer black laws that were forcibly imposed on the farmers by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led the Central Government at the Center.
A candle march was taken out from Congress Bhawan to Shaheed Albert Ekka Chowk in the State Capital to pay tribute to the departed farmers. It is to be known that this program was organized on the instructions of All India Congress Committee on the occasion of 'Kisan Vijay Diwas'.
On this occasion, Congress Legislature Party leader cum Minister Alamgir Alam along with JPCC Chief, Rajesh Thakur and other office bearers of JPCC were present.
Talking to media persons on the occasion Alam said that due to the defeat of the BJP in the last West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh and other states’ elections, the BJP is doubting its success in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly elections and the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. “This is the reason why the farmers were forced to bow down to the arrogant Prime Minister Modi, who called him agitator, Khalistani, and terrorist during his movement,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion at Albert Ekka Chowk after the candle march, Thakur said that the dictatorship of the Country’s ruler was forced to kneel under the pressure of continuous satyagraha by the farmers and the Congress party. This is the first example in the history of independent India that the Modi Government, which supported the capitalists in the name of majority, has not only announced the withdrawal of these laws, but Prime Minister Modi, who pretends to be a 56-inch strong Government, has taken the wrong decisions, has publicly apologised to the Country. Thakur said that the Prime Minister himself said that he has completely failed to explain his point to the farmers, which clearly means that now the public is not ready to listen to him.
