JP Jail inmates to furnish Ramgarh court

Some years ago, the Jharkhand Government gave Ramgarh the status of a separate district dividing Hazaribagh district. Till now, the district court was in Hazaribagh, but from next week, the Ramgarh court is going to become operative. The furnishing work of newly built court building is going on and the JP Jail Hazaribagh, inmates are playing a major role in this job.

last year, a furniture factory was installed in JP Jail campus to give the inmates opportunity of earning. Experts in making furniture and other items were called in the jail factory to train the inmates and when they became trained, the jail authority started efforts to get order of supply of furniture.

The first order they got was for furnishing of Ramgarh court. The JP Jail furniture factory got the order of supplying 100 wooden chairs, 100 tables, 100 steel almirahs, 100 footrests, 100 writing podiums and some other itemsfor Ramgarh court costing more than Rs20 lakh.

For last few months, work is going on in the furniture factory in full swing because the date of delivery is coming near and near. The jail authorities have purchased best quality raw materials from the local market of Hazaribagh and have provided all the necessary equipment to the trained inmates who are engaged in making good quality furniture.

When the inmates of JP central Jail came to know that the furniture, they will make, is going to be used in Ramgarh court then they all decided to make it more attractive, beautiful and strong so that the association of Ramgarh with Hazaribagh could be felt till long in the court rooms. Items are almost ready now and we are going to send it to Ramgarh court very soon, said Jailor CP Suman.

Jail Superintendent Rupam Prasad proudly says that in record time the JP Jail inmates have prepared all the items as per the order. She said that after opening of this furniture factory now there is not a single inmate in our jail who is waiting for work. Now the industrial area of JP central jail includes Printing press, powerloom, handloom, tailoring, detergent making, phenyl making and some other units in which more than 1000 inmates are getting work and training daily.

The jail authorities are hopeful that like other units of the jail campus the furniture making unit will also make its credibility among the customers very soon because of its quality products and other government departments will start giving order to it to get quality furniture.
