JP Central Jail unveils online meeting facility

About 200-year-old historic Jai Prakash Narayan Central Jail, Hazaribagh, has set another example for the other jail administrations of the State and other States too. From Friday the online registration system to fix meeting with jail inmates has been started. Now the friends and relatives of JP Jail inmates will not have to stand in long queues at the registration counter.

Jailor CP Suman informed that the friends and relatives of JP Jail inmates can get the time of their meeting online by using internet either by their self-connection or through Pragya Kendras nearest to their homes. For it their will have to complete a process.The person who wants to meet with his/her near and dear presently in JP Central Jail, Hazaribagh, will have to visit the site  http://eprisons.nic.in/npip/public/home.aspx. At this site they will get a page of new visit registration in which he/she will have to enter the necessary information before submitting it. After submission he will get a visitor registration slip with date and time of meeting.

On the date he/she will have to come to JP Central Jail and at the time of reporting he/she will have to show an identity proof preferablyUnique Identity Number Card (Aadhar Card). Since we have decided that the person whose name will be on the registration slip will be allowed to meet with the inmate so this card will be mandatory for every visitor.

Jailor Suman said that in no case we are going to allow another person in place of a person whose name is in the registration slip. We have fixed the meeting time from 8 a.m. to 12 noon on every working day so it will be better that now the relatives and friends get fixed their meeting time prior to their visit to JP Central Jail. The jail administration was in search of a solution of the crowd which comes daily in the morning to fix time with the inmates and since the time is limited so many of them go back without meeting their friend or relative after wasting time and money.

This new process will help not only the friends and relatives of the jail inmates but also the jail administration to bring the inmates in the meeting cabin on fixed time and the visitors can easily talk with the inmates. Suman said that the registration counter at jail gate will work as usual for some days but soon it will be closed and visitors only having registration slip will be allowed.
