The protest organised by Congress at Randhir Verma Chowk on Wednesday against the action of Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the National Herald case suddenly turned violent and  a fierce clash between two factions of district Congress was seen  in which  they attacked each other with sticks and rods.

During this, the atmosphere became  tense as a section of  media persons  were covering the infighting  and they too were attacked by none other than siblings of the district congress president.

According to eyewitnesses, an argument broke out between two local factions of the Congress over some issue, which soon turned into a fight. Both sides attacked each other with sticks and rods. The media persons present at the spot were also targeted while covering the incident injuring  four journalists. Camera of photographers too was damaged  by the district congress president's siblings.   Even they entered Gandhi Seva Sadan   next to Randhir Verma square  and attacked journalists.Injured media persons were rushed to  hospital for treatment of others.

This incident of Dhanbad Congress not only tarnished the dignity of the protest, but the attack on media persons has also raised questions on the safety of journalists. Condemning the incident, the press club office bearers  have demanded strict action against the culprits. A protest has been planned by the press club on Thursday.
